Though direct flight is more efficient and timing saving. In some situation, however, passengers need to choose connecting flights. When transfer at Hong Kong Airport through the same airline, say Greater Bay Airlines.
Case One: two connecting flights with Greater Bay Airlines, under a single ticket. When check in at origin, passengers will obtain boarding passes for both flights. Check-in luggage will also be tagged through.
Upon arrival at Hong Kong Airport, ground staff will meet connecting passengers and provide transit information. Connecting passengers need only to proceed to the nearest transfer point to complete security screening. Then passengers can proceed to the boarding gate for the next flight. Check-in luggage do not need to be handled as it will be sent directly to the final destination. It is completely convenient and hassle-free.
Case Two: Two connecting flights with Greater Bay Airlines but issued under two separate tickets. When checking in at origin, passengers will only obtain the boarding pass for the first flight. Check in baggage will also be tagged through to the final destination. Upon arrival at Hong Kong International Airport after the first flight, boarding pass of the second flight will be provided at the arrival gate. The rest of the process is the same as before or proceed to the transfer desk located at E1 within the restricted area to check in for the second flight and obtain the boarding pass. Passengers then proceed to the nearest transfer point to complete security screening. Then passengers can proceed to the boarding gate for the next flight. For both scenarios, the minimum connecting time is approximately 55 minutes and 60 minutes respectively. Passengers won’t need to go through immigration and customs, re-enter the restricted area or handle the check-in luggage.
